Ambrosia is living a depressed existence of smoking and drinking until she tries to end it all by swallowing lots of pharmaceutical pills. The next day she wakes up dazed and confused, and finds that her ex-boyfriend Alex, the big love of her life, has come to visit her. Animosity and apprehension give way to a rekindling of passion, and they end up making love again. Time goes by and things seem idyllic for Ambrosia, but when she asks Alex whether they can leave the flat for once, things suddenly become strange, and it becomes clear that Ambrosia's new life is not all it seemed to be.

Joshua has locked himself in his house as he believes that the world as we know it has ended and that the dead walk the streets. He spends his days carefully looking out the window, eating canned food, working out, reading eschatological and religious texts, and praying. Then one day, he has a nightmare in which he sees his ex-girlfriend Yolanda trying to kill him, and things take a turn for the worse.
